Denizli

Overview

The city that brought its long-dormant wine potential to life through the Cal Vineyard Route. This region produces 20% of Turkey's wine grapes and 40% of all Turkish wine. So calling Cal one enormous wine factory wouldn't be wrong. The problem was that most wines from this region were produced as table wine or bulk supply for five-star hotels. With newly established wineries like Kuzubag and Lermonos breaking this mold, and established producers like Kup and Erdel also starting to release premium lines, a proper vineyard route has taken shape.

What to See

The wineries have wonderful atmospheres, perfect for spending long stretches of time. Some offer accommodation and restaurant options as well. If you haven't visited yet, I'd recommend doing so at the earliest opportunity.

My Place Reviews

Restaurants

Miske RestaurantDec 2025★★★★☆

Food quality is still good, but the service has slowed down a bit and the music has changed a lot. The music definitely doesn't fit the vibe; they were playing songs like it was a nightclub. Good that the food is still tasty, and I think the prices are reasonable, but they could use some organizational fine-tuning.

Akın Pide Salonu2023★★★★☆

Overall we liked it, a nice village pide shop.

ALKANLAR Kasap Kebap2022★★★★★

You really shouldn't say you've had kokoreç until you've tried it here. Friends who'd been were singing its praises, so we went with sky-high expectations and it genuinely didn't disappoint. I can say it's an incredible flavor. We had the portion. The Babadağ kebab is also quite tasty, but I'm not sure I'd order it again when kokoreç is an option :) Definitely a must-try. Those who gave low scores mostly complained about the price. The ambiance might be rough around the edges but it serves you a taste you won't find even at the fanciest restaurant. They make all their meats themselves so what they eat and drink etc. is known, and it's all reportedly natural. If you're the type who likes paying for fancy venues, you might not enjoy it. If flavor matters to you, try it no matter what.

Bağlı Kokoreç2022★★★★★

Incredible flavor!

Bars

Kup SarapcilikSep 2025★★★★★

The new tasting areas are very stylish. No food options but they have snacks like cheese boards. The historic building and old winery section (museum) are beautiful. A must-visit.

Ezel şaraplari2023★★★☆☆

Average flavor. Mostly table wines.

Hanchalar2023★★★☆☆

Same place as Erdel winery, it's a factory. No tasting available.

Erdel Şarapçılık2023★★★☆☆

There's no tasting room, so don't bother going if that's your plan. They only do factory sales. It's marked separately as Hanchalar but both are the same place.

Cafes

Choose Sushi, Sandwich & Coffee2023★★★★☆

No indoor seating, if you're getting takeout it's best to call ahead and order. They've stopped doing winter service.

Attractions

Kaklık Mağarası ve Yüzme Havuzu2024★★★★★

Absolutely a must-see beauty. The smell is awful when you first enter but you get used to it inside. Definitely wear slippers, the floors are very wet.

Tarihi Hançalar Köprüsü2023★★★★★

The bridge is definitely amazing, absolutely stop by if you're passing through the area. Don't expect anything from the facility next to it though.

Travertines of Pamukkale2023★★★★★

Definitely one of the places anyone should see before they die.

Hierapolis2023★★★★★

You definitely need to set aside the entire full day for the whole area together with Pamukkale. We could barely finish the museums, ancient theater, and nearby structures in half a day. If you also plan to get in the pool and visit the church at the very top, even a full day might not be enough. It's spread across a huge area. If you have time, spreading it over two days would be more comfortable.

Laodicea Ancient City2023★★★★★

Absolutely must-see, worth setting aside at least 2-3 hours.
