Hanoi to Da Nang
We used Vietnam Airlines for a domestic flight from Hanoi to Da Nang.
Because we were traveling with a baby, staff directed us to a special check-in line. It was incredibly slow; the ordinary line would probably have been faster. Their attempt to help produced the opposite result.
Our checked baggage allowance was below what we carried. I had tried to buy extra weight online, but the system would not let us raise existing bags above 23 kilograms and support told us to handle it at check-in. The counter accepted everything without comment. Bags sat for some time in what looked like a manual handling area in Hanoi, so perhaps the excess simply went unnoticed. Do not treat that as a baggage policy.
Seat pitch and comfort were fine. A few panels around the lights had rough manual-looking patches and yellow staining, which did not inspire confidence.
Cabin crew wore traditional dress, and even the safety video used a full traditional concept. It worked well. Overall the flight met expectations and caused no airline problem.
At arrival we did create our own panic. Another passenger moved one of our backpacks to a different overhead bin so they could use the space. I rushed off thinking it had been taken. After the cabin emptied, crew found it elsewhere. Keep track of hand luggage during the frantic rush to disembark.
