Overview
A magnificent natural wonder we visited on a day trip from Las Vegas, choosing the West Rim since it was closer. If you're also considering going to the West Rim from Vegas, my biggest piece of advice would be: don't.
Tips & Advice
If you have any way to make it work, build your plan around driving the extra 4-5 hours to the main South Rim instead. Grand Canyon West has turned into a complete tourist shakedown operation run by Native Americans. At the Skywalk section, they won't even let you bring your phone in, just so they can take your photo and sell it back to you at outrageous prices. They're so stingy that you can only access the decent restaurant area with a view if you pay extra for a meal. They've literally walled off the view from the adjacent gift shop so you can't see the scenery from there. That's the level we're talking about.
Still, if there's absolutely no alternative, you should definitely go and see it because the view is magnificent. But if you can create an alternative, the main South Rim is absolutely the way to go.
