Overview
The atmosphere is absolutely incredible. Anyone with an interest in wine should visit. But the wines we tasted were unfortunately mediocre. Maybe we chose overly touristy spots, but regardless, compared to the flavor and value of Turkish wines, Napa Valley fell well short. My best guess is that the proximity to San Francisco has inflated both prices and demand, diluting the quality that once beat the French. The bottom line: the setting is stunning, the venues are on fire, people literally line up at winery doors at 9 AM. It's a genuinely unique scene. But wine is ultimately about flavor, and on that front, it didn't make the grade for us.
Food & Drink
We tried V. Sattui, Castello di Amorosa, and Artesa Vineyards. Castello is great if you're new to wine and want a general "how wine is made" tour experience. Sattui had a nice atmosphere but the wines genuinely disappointed. Among the three, Artesa was the best in both venue quality and flavor, but even then, none of them would make my "I'd go back" list.
