Overview
Greece's largest island, which we got to visit as a day stop on a cruise. The island is genuinely huge with apparently plenty to see, but that's just not feasible on a single-day visit. Heraklion has a few historical structures, but those take 2 hours max. We opted to visit two wineries about 20-30 minutes from the center and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves (Lyrarakis Winery in particular was excellent). If that's not your thing, you'll need to find alternative activities, because Heraklion alone isn't very satisfying for pure tourism.
