Crete

Overview

Greece's largest island, which we got to visit as a day stop on a cruise. The island is genuinely huge with apparently plenty to see, but that's just not feasible on a single-day visit. Heraklion has a few historical structures, but those take 2 hours max. We opted to visit two wineries about 20-30 minutes from the center and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves (Lyrarakis Winery in particular was excellent). If that's not your thing, you'll need to find alternative activities, because Heraklion alone isn't very satisfying for pure tourism.

Attractions

Kleanthi Olive Farm2024★★★★☆

Good for the facility tour however they only have 1 type of olive oil. Go hungry because they have lots of things to eat with :)

Shops

Domaine Paterianakis- Κτήμα Πατεριανάκη2024★★★★☆

Good whites. Really love the muscat one! Good tasting and presentation.

Lyrarakis Winery & Tasting Room2024★★★★★

Really good wines. Especially loved Mandilari one. Dafni is also really original, worth to try.
