Overview
A country whose Livingstone city we visited during our big Africa tour in October 2023, crossing from the Zimbabwean side to see Victoria Falls.
What to See
This side has far more souvenir sellers than Zimbabwe. They start swarming you right from the border bridge. While they were more relaxed on the Zimbabwean side, here the hustling is intense. The locals on this side are probably in worse shape since fewer tourists cross over, making them more persistent with sales.
There's a zipline and bungee jumping right at the falls on this side. Both looked way too dangerous and terrifying for me, but they'd be a great option for adrenaline seekers.
Where to Stay
Tourist-wise, the Zimbabwean side is more active. We stayed at Chrismar Hotel, very close to the Zambezi River and natural park. Despite struggling with mosquitoes and the hotel's dated feel, the mornings were paradise-like. At night, we heard elephant sounds everywhere. Turns out the hotel is practically inside the park. Monkeys are everywhere on the property. Quite a fantastic experience.
Nightlife
For sunset drinks, we went to Zambezi Boat Club, a local hangout. The atmosphere was genuinely wonderful. Everyone there was incredibly warm toward tourists. We had a really enjoyable time. The local Zambian beer was quite tasty and very affordable at this spot.
Tips & Advice
There isn't much to do in the city overall. You can visit mainly to see how Zambians live, but beyond that, there aren't many attractions.
