Overview
I definitely can't say this city isn't beautiful, but compared to Italy's other cities and considering its level of popularity, I find it a bit overrated. If I were starting an Italy trip from scratch today, I could easily name ten cities I'd visit before Verona. The popularity seems to be driven especially by American tourists, largely thanks to Romeo and Juliet.
Tips & Advice
If you're planning an Italy itinerary and wondering where to go, sure, you can include Verona, but personally, I'd much rather spend an extra day or two in Rome or Venice. Or I'd go out of my way to see San Marino or take a stroll through Siena over visiting Verona any day.
