Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport

Overview

Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport was the final stop on our road trip. We flew home from Terminal 3, so this note reflects that part of CDG rather than every terminal at the airport. Our departure experience was poor. Terminal 3 felt disconnected from the rest of the complex, and its food situation was among the weakest I had encountered in a major European hub.

Reaching Our Terminal

Our train brought us into the Terminal 2 area. From there we used CDGVAL to reach the Terminal 3 and Roissypole stop, followed by an outdoor walk to the terminal itself. That route is normal rather than a diversion. Roissypole's official guidance places Terminal 3 about three minutes on foot from the station.

The arrangement still felt poorly integrated when carrying luggage and moving toward a flight.

Food

The range of proper food around our departure area was extremely limited. There was one bakery outside and very little after security. By 6:00 pm on a Monday, the remaining salad counter looked almost emptied out. The lounge did not offer a hot buffet either, although pizza or quiche could be prepared on request.

Verdict

Our experience at CDG's Terminal 3 fell far below what I expected from the airport. It handled the basic departure process, but access, food and lounge options were all weak. I would eat before reaching this part of Charles de Gaulle rather than relying on what is available after security.

My Place Reviews

Cafes

Pret A Manger T3 Zone Schengen★★☆☆☆
From my trip notes

Not a single salad left at 6 pm on a Monday. The place looked as though it had been stripped bare.

Transport

Departure lounge at CDG★★☆☆☆
From my trip notes; exact lounge name not recorded

Mediocre. There was no hot buffet, although pizza or quiche could be prepared on request. We could not find a lounge accepting LoungeKey either. I had not had such a weak airport food experience in a long time.
